Sowore’s Arrest: “History repeating itself” Nigerians reacts to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore and other activists

Since the arrest of the founder of Sahara reporters and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and other activists in Abuja who were carrying out a peaceful procession to mark the New Year, a lot of Nigerians have expressed their displeasure in the arrest.

Coalition for revolution (CORE) joined thousands of Nigerians to criticize the government for the arrest of the activists.

They warned the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government that “this act in itself will not delay its day of judgment”, while urging democratic and civic organisations in the country to join their voices to speak against the oppression and assaults on the peaceful protesters.

Lot of tweeter users have taken to their handles to express their feelings about the arrest, presently free Sowore is trending on tweeter.

Kemi olunloye has also reacted to the arrest, she compared the arrest to that of her late father and other governors who were arrested 37 years ago (January 1, 1984).

According to eyewitnesses, police officers suspected to be with the Rapid Response Squad stormed Guru junction in Abuja. Sowore was brutalized and injured before carting him away with other activists at the location.
