Cristiano Ronaldo named ‘Player of the Century’

Juventus superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has been named ‘Player of the Century’.

Ronaldo picked up the award in person at a ceremony held at the Armani Hotel on Sunday, beating longtime rival Lionel Messi to the prize.

Ronaldo wrote on twitter: “Couldn’t be happier with tonight’s award! As I’m about to celebrate my 20th year as a professional footballer, Globe Soccer Player Of The Century is a recognition that I receive with so much joy and pride!”

He also won the ‘Player of the Year’ but he has reportedly given the award to Bayern Munich star, Robert Lewandowski.

The reason behind this incredible gesture is because they felt it was unfair and think Ronaldo only won it based on his own popularity.

Lewandowski has scored 55 goals in 2020 and helped Bayern romp to the treble, topped by a Champions League triumph in the summer.

Pep Guardiola was name ‘Coach of the Century’.
